Description
By design rings are provided with a “shoulder “to keep in place center stop and the nearest ring not to fall through. The exterior ring is glued by the next ring which is connected with the center stop via the mentioned “shoulder”.After mounting the center stop and the rest of color ring are approx. at same level.
Manufactured from separate Lucite (100 percent transparent) approx.
3.0mm thick rings
featuring a very close tolerance and mounted by pressure.

Zoom filters are the result of research made in the last few years.

‘With the invention of inkjet and laser printers a wave of experiments in creating Rheinberg zoom flites was of a level of extravaganza. Amateurs and professionals created zoom filters with a lot of colored ring areas. After that was a moment of silence because the combination of various colors created at the end by combining a resulting color grayish, brownish etc.
(People with some artistic painting experience obtain same effect combined multiple colors on their pallet.)
More than this the final result couldn’t be precise estimated and the colors from printers does not have a strong color signature.
Using very thin filters was another disappointment, the image quite crispy but with an annoying lack of pixels.
So, the thicker filters are used today because at the junction of rings a refraction effect is creating
a transition very reach in pixels and very nice to look at. The difference between the first and the last is like difference between a GIF picture and a TIFF picture or let say the difference between a new whine and an old wine.”
General:
( Rheinberg illumination is based on dark-field illumination. With colored filters instead of the dark 'patch stop' wonderful effects can be created.
Rheinberg zoom filters share features with dark field illumination and with Circular Oblique Illumination (COL). Not all people are familiar with Rheinberg illumination, for people trying for the first time this technique we recommend to begin experimenting using as a starting point plenty of light, maximum condenser aperture and elevation. Please do not forget the Rheinberg illumination rules and Dark field rules are different. Rheinberg filters will work very well in lower magnification range (up to 40X) Using this filters in higher magnification environment the - so name "Rheinberg Effect" will be less noticeable or null.)
Since this filters are designed to be inserted in a regular condenser filter tray please do not try to put them in another location, they will not work) Not recommended for Nikon and Amscope microscopes.
