    Description

Vietnam Era US Army ERDL Camouflage Ripstop Tropical  "Boonie" Hat - Size 7 - MINT Unissued Condition
Up for sale is a Vietnam Style US Army ERDL Pattern Camouflage Ripstop Tropical "Boonie" Hat.  The hat is in MINT Unissued Condition.  It is a Size 7.  Very RARE to find with the ERDL Camouflage Pattern in this Condition.  These are new made by a current US Military Contractor, who made them in the 1960's & 1970's.
    Natick Labs developed the
    ERDL
camouflage boonie hat in 1968 in response to a request from Army Material Command. Officially called the Type II Jungle Hat, it was made from Quarpel (Quartermaster developed water repellent) treated 6-ounce rip-stop cotton poplin fabric. The design of the hat was almost identical to the standard
    OG-107 boonie
, except that it boasted a wider brim (3-inch vs. 2½ -inch) for added protection against sun and rain.
This will make a welcomed addition or upgrade for any Vietnam Collection.
