    :
This auction is for a Hopi Pueblo pottery bowl by the renowned documented potter Rosetta Huma, B.1919-D.1987. Traditional Hopi shallow bowl form with a Katsina Palhik Mana subject, butterfly maiden. Measures 7 1/8" in diameter, 1 3/4" raised edge. Rosetta Huma was from Sichomovi on First Mesa, Hopi. Rosetta was the mother of Wilford Huma and the former mother-in-law of Rondina Huma known for her exceptional gallery and museum featured pottery. Rosetta began making pottery in the 1950's and was a neighbor to Marcella Kahe and personally knew Nampeyo of Hano who passed in 1942. Very rarely do you come across her works for sale. Bowl has been part of a private Native American collection. Many photos shown up close for your review. No chips or repairs, some very minor age related wear, consistent with age.
