Description
One Olympus CH2-DS dark field light stop. It is new and in the Olympus packaging. The stop measures approximately 1 3/8" (34mm) and is designed to fit the sub-stage light source of a model CH microscope. I am told these work well on the BH as well. There may be other models and brands you could make them work on but you would need to experiment.
The principal is the light in the center is blocked, allowing the background to be dark. The light that strikes the object being viewed comes from the sides, giving the appearance of a well lit object against a field of black.
The dark field micrographs in this listing were taken by me on an Olympus CHS. The microscope I used is shown in the last photo for illustration. It is not included in the auction! The micrographs are of some bug slides I had. One of them was a house fly.
Meteorites under the microscope is my hobby. Check out my old (I no longer write these) Meteorite Times articles called Micro Visions. Here is a link to a back issue list (with live links) of my articles. There is some beautiful art in those micrographs and some useful information (I hope!).

Also, my son is setting up a Gallery and art sales site of my micrographs. Please check it out

I am currently setting up my meteorite micrograph gallery within this site. My old gallery has been down for some time, keep checking it out as it is an ongoing project.
The dark stop is a rather simple one piece metal device. The effect can be achieved with circles of cardboard. If you are unsure about how this technique will work with your set up, try it with some cardboard circles first. But once you get the hang of it, I highly recommend the convenience of an Olympus made part that goes in centered!
Only the dark stop is included, no other microscopes or parts!
