-  (b.1963 – present)
Ambrose Atencio is a well known and much recognized potter from the Kewa (Santo Domingo) Pueblo. He learned pottery making from watchingand working with his many relatives who are also potters, however he was most influenced by his uncle, master potter, Robert Tenorio. Ambrose is also related to Hilda and Arthur Coriz. He became a serious potter in the 1980s and is now a renowned Kewa  (Santo Domingo) potter.
Ambrose specializes in traditional hand coiled, hand painted Santo Domingo pottery and uses all-natural materials gathered from Santo Domingo Pueblo. His colors are somewhat muted compared to other Kewa potters whose colors are more bold.
He generally signs his work: “Ambrose Atencio,” with the date the pot was created.
This polychrome olla is signed by Ambrose Atencio, is dated 2007 and measures approximately 9 inches high and 9 ½ inches wide.  This is a heavy piece weighing approximately 5 lbs and 9 oz.
