    Description

Kay Finch Ceramics was in business in Southern California from 1939 until 1963. Kay was not only an outstanding artist but also a passionate dog fancier, being a breeder, exhibitor and judge at dog shows. She is still renowned within the Afghan Hound breed today.
This is her Shih Tzu dog figurine, and quite a large one at that, measuring 10" tall by 12" long. It is model 837 in the gold leaf glaze. This figurine is the actual one pictured in Mike Nickel's book on Kay Finch on page 142 (first edition), and was taken when he came to my home to photograph my collection. It has been kept  behind glass in a display case during the many years I have owned it.
