It cannot be compared or confused with units that have side-by-side inlets and outlets with ineffective flimsy honeycomb filters or air compressor filters to keep the cost down and never take into account how critical the separation process is. At UPR make sure that this feature and process of the catch cans performance is protected with the best diffuser systems available. UPR's diffuser technology consistently captures and filters oil vapor and trash from getting into your air intake tract. This is the most critical feature of any catch can system. Manufactured from Domestic T-6 6061 Aluminum bar stock and finished off using only the best Diamond cutters to exceed your expectations of what a superior product should fit and look like.
Every UPR Catch Can is a designed and tested USA product. UPR is the largest aftermarket catch can manufacturer in the country. Continually improving our designs to stay ahead of the competition and give you the cutting edge technology of tomorrow today. We are so confident we offer an unconditional warranty on our products to let you know you can always count on UPRproducts. What is the problem with your PCV
system?
The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system is used to recycle the gasses that leak or “blow-by” your engines piston rings and creates
a positive pressure in the crankcase. By venting these gasses along with oil mist/vapor from the crankcase and route it back into the intake manifold
so it can be burned off.
This is a poor fix from automobile manufacturers because over time the excess oil vapor collects along the inside of the intake tract and forms
“sludge”. This leads to a variety of issues including carbon build up, retarded timing, detonation, power loss and even engine failure.
UPR s
fix for the PCV system used on many engines for reducing toxic gasses from being released into the atmosphere and eliminating positive
crankcase pressure / Blow-By.
What does a UPR Catch Can do?
UPR s Billet Catch Can / oil-air separator will condense and collect the oil vapor before it has any chance to reach the intake tract. As the gas
and oil vapor enters UPR s can they pass through a Chambered filtering system that cools the oil vapor and gives it something to adhere
to.
Then the oil forms into droplets and collects in the bottom of the UPR Catch Can so that they can later be drained. This is where the additional
Chambered filtering system comes into play allowing only the clean air to pass through so it can eliminate unwanted blow-by.
All engines have blow by otherwise there would be no need for a PCV system on your engine. PCV = Positive Crankcase Valve, which eliminates
Positive Crankcase Pressure. UPR s Catch Can have become one of the most widely used and recommended cures for just about every application.
The engine size and horsepower level
is
not relevant to the performance of the UPR Catch Can. UPR s Catch Can have become a cornerstone
by improving the Performance and Economy on any vehicle you install it on.
1997-2013 GM Truck Universal Catch Can Installation Instructions
1. Remove the engine cover and locate clean side connection on manifold side or top.
2. To remove hose you can cut it lengthwise along the plastic fitting and spread it apart.
3. You can do the same at the dirty side on the valve cover or the back of the driver cylinder head.
4. Now mount the catch can on the side upper mounting hole of the alternator accessory bracket.
5. Once the catch can is securely mounted you can now run the hoses to the connection points.
6. Then you start your engine to double check that there are no vacuum leaks and everything is set.
7. Now your ready to reinstall the factory engine cover and.
Always gently close the catch can when tightening as it's designed for an interference fit with the O-ring
otherwise, you will jam the catch can shut and ruin the O-ring. O-rings are a wear item and not covered
by warranty and can be purchased separately with all UPR catch can.
For draining you will want to check your catch can within 500 miles for the first 3000 miles to get an
idea of how much oil it collects and the frequency it needs to be drained.
