    Description

Plaque of the Famous Hyundai "Atlantic Baron" Oil Tanker
This beautiful collectible plaque depicts the
    Atlantic Baron
oil tanker made by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) of South Korea for North Ocean Shipping (NOS).
    The
    Atlantic Baron
ship was made famous because of the lawsuit filed by NOS against HHI.  It is an interesting and frequently cited case study in international contract law.
    The
    Atlantic Baron
is a single steel screw steam turbine tanker of 259,000 ton deadweight.  It was delivered in 1974 at a cost of US million plus an overage of US million due to the devaluation of the US dollar.  The lawsuit was related to this overage.
    The plaque itself is about 6 1/2" x 4 3/4".
It is made of cast copper and is in a velvet box, which is
about 8" x 6".  The plaque and the box are in MINT condition.
